We wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone in the congregations at St John’s with St Mary’s for their fantastic Harvest donations to the Foodbank – and also for their continuing and very generous help throughout the year.
The Foodbank team greatly appreciates your support for the work we do with local people and families experiencing financial hardship – it would not be possible for us to continue doing this without donations from churches, schools, businesses and individuals within our local community. This has been particularly true during 2020, when we have seen a huge increase in the number of people needing food parcels and have opened a second foodbank at the Church of the Good Shepherd so we can provide further access to food parcels for vulnerable people at this very difficult time. Without you all we couldn’t have helped nearly 6000 people so far this year, sadly a real milestone.
This year, we are taking part in the Love Christmas Initiative as one of many churches around the country seeking to distribute a million care boxes to those most in need. We are putting together Christmas parcels for anyone in need in the Hounslow West parish, as well as Foodbank guests. If people would like to donate specifically to the Love Christmas boxes, we still need more vegetarian Christmas puddings; vegetarian Christmas cakes; popcorn; Christmas chocolate biscuits; and Uno or Jenga games. We also have to request that any Uno and Jenga games are new and not pre-loved. It would be tremendously helpful if anyone at St John’s wanted to give items for these parcels in addition to the regular donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries. You can give in the usual way, via the St John’s porch, but the deadline will be the end of the day on December 4th so we can put the parcels together on the 5th. Thanks again to everyone for working with us in this way.
