A Church Survey As Lockdown is Easing

The easing of lockdown is great news but I want to acknowledge how hard this time has been for many of us as it’s nearly four months now since we met physically to worship together in our buildings. I really miss being able to worship God with you, to sing together, break bread, hear from our children and pray for each other. Even though we are planning to open the churches for worship in the coming months it will be a long time until much of what we love about church will be possible.

We want to send out a survey for everyone, whether you have joined us online over the last few months or been a church member for many years. The short survey shouldn’t take you more than 5 minutes. The easiest way to complete the survey is online – by clicking this link here. If you prefer an emailed document of the survey for printing, or a delivered paper version that can be arranged. We would be happy to speak on the phone to record answers that way as well, if easier. What you say will inform our thinking and discussions among the church staff and at PCC as we plan for the next few weeks and months.

Of course, we still have to follow the government guidelines and the advice of the Church of England and our bishops. It isn’t just a question of unlocking the doors, we need to do everything we can to minimise the risks for everyone. We are thinking about one way systems, cleaning regimes, seating and many other things! Hopefully this reassures you that we are taking this very seriously. We want everyone of all ages to feel safe when we can gather to worship. In the meantime do make use of times for private prayer on Wednesday mornings at St John’s and Friday mornings at St Mary’s as well as all the online services. Though it will be a bit longer before we can physically meet together the church is very much alive and God is at work, Jesus is alive! So, please do fill out the survey and we’ll be in touch soon.
