The School of Radical Discipleship

Rev Oli Douglas-Pennant explains a bit about an initiative he has helped to start: the School of Radical Discipleship.

We believe that following Jesus changes everything. The School of Radical Discipleship aims to be a practical way to make this happen.

The programme is an intensive part-time school for anyone who wants to learn to follow Jesus more closely. Students meet together on twelve Saturday mornings from September to June and with a small group of 2-4 other students once between each Saturday session.

The school for the September 2019 – June 2020 year is being hosted by Dave and myself at St Mary’s, and the school includes input from a variety of lay and ordained church leaders and theologians.

The foundational theme in the school is our Identity as Christians with other modules on Prayer & Healing, Mission, Evangelism and on how to grow a rhythm of Christian Discipleship. The school uses a wide variety of learning techniques in the context of worship, prayer and community. The programme is designed to benefit and support the involvement of the students in their
church. A key part of the school involves giving space to students to apply what they are learning to church and all of life.

The programme is designed to be accessible to anyone irrespective of education, theological or church background. There is an open morning on Saturday June 29 th from 10.30am – 12.30pm at St Mary’s
Worton Road for church leaders and/or potential students to get a taste of the school and find out more (register through tobedisciples.org or email hello@tobedisciples.org)
